The season of both eating and baking cakes has arrived. It is hardly a week to go for Christmas and with that festival, we are also reminded of the New Year celebration. In both these occasions, a cake plays a major role. A dry Marble Cake is one of the traditional Christmas cakes and comes with a longer shelf life. So, once you make it, you can store it till your New Year celebration too. As a companion to tea or coffee, this cake is just perfect. It is not high on sugar content and is made sans the elaborate decoration of cream or fondant or glitters. But taste-wise, this simple looking cake is no less than the designer cakes. So, here is an easy recipe of Marble Cake that you can make in your Christmas holidays and cherish till the New Year.

Recipe of Marble Cake:

What All You Need?

Self-Raising Flour: 225 gms

Softened Butter: 225 gms

Eggs: 4

Sugar: 225 gms

Milk: 3 Tsp

Cocoa Powder: 2 Tsp

Vanilla Extract: 1 Tsp

How To Make A Marble Cake:
  • Firstly, heat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius and grease a cake tin of 20 cms. Now line the circular bottom of the cake pan with a grease-proof paper.
  • Take the butter and caster sugar and beat them together for a while until smooth. The beat in eggs one by one and keep blending as you keep breaking and putting one egg.
  • Now put the self-raising flour in this mixture and fold very well along with the addition of milk and vanilla extract.
  • Give a very nice mix again so that there are no lumps at all.
  • Another step in this easy recipe of Marble Cake is to put self-raising flour, butter, sugar, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract in a food processor and give a very nice whizz for about 3-4 minutes and get a smooth finish instantly. But do that only when you are running out of time otherwise stick to the traditional steps to get a better result.
  • Now, take two bowls and divide the mixture in between them.
  • In one of the bowls stir in the cocoa powder. Take two different spoons and use them to transfer the chocolate and vanilla cake mixes into the greased tin alternatively.
  • After transferring the cake mixture, tap the bottom well so that there are no air bubbles.
  • Simply now take a skewer and swirl it around the mixture and that would create the marbled effect on your cake.
  • No all you have to do is bake the cake for 45-55 minutes. Insert a skewer at the center of the cake to check if the cake needs further baking or not. Once done, take the tin out of your oven and cool it.

If baked on the Christmas day, serve it to your guests with tea/coffee/drinks. If baked earlier or later, then store it in an air-tight container and refrigerate it. It would remain in perfect condition for at least 3 months. So, this recipe of Marble Cake is a great gift option for your children or siblings who stays in a hostel.
